Core stability exercise focuses
on improving muscle tone in areas that can get overlooked in a gym-based
programme. Using aids like a fitness ball, or sometime just holding specific
body positions, we can work particular muscle groups (the abdomen, for
example) that contribute massively towards improving balance and co-ordination.
These aren’t exercises to increase bulk or to raise your heart rate, but
to build deep tone into your inner core muscles, and improve definition. Most
athletes can benefit greatly from a core stability programme.
